The nine-year-old son of actress Vanitha Vijayakumar, Vijay Sri Hari, was produced before the Madras High Court on Monday, following a Habeas Corpus Petition (HCP) filed by her.
Vanitha’s former husband S Anand alias Akash, who too is an actor, produced the boy, Vijay Srihari, following the court’s interim direction on a habeus corpus petition filed by Vanitha, seeking release of her son from the custody of her former husband.
The High Court Bench said the mother and son could meet in the presence of the Registrar-General. The two met in the Registrar-General’s chamber. Later, Akash and Vijay Sri Hari left together.
During the hearing, Akash filed a counter denying the allegations made against him. He stated that through a family court in Secunderabad, he had agreed to give custody of their son to Vanitha, as she had promised to educate him in New Zealand. But she failed to keep her word.
