DISTRICT WISE ZILLA PANCHAYATH TRENDS
he Karnataka Panchayat Election results are expected to be announced by Tuesday afternoon.
The vote counting kicked off on Tuesday morning at 8 am amid tight security. As per the election commission, the counting is going on smoothly.
The results once declared will be uploaded on official website of Election Commission of Karnataka: http://karsec.gov.in.
Meanwhile, the latest trends reflect that the ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) is leading.
The winover for BJP is very important for Karnata Chief Minister B S yeddyurappa to stay in power. He is already very confident of his party’s victory.
Yeddyurappa, who is facing charges of favouring his kin with prime land in and around Bangalore, led his party in the poll battle.
These are the first elections to the local governing councils after the BJP came to power in the state in May 2008.
Over 65 percent of the 21 million voters, nearly half of them women, cast their ballots in the elections to the 30 zila and 176 taluka panchayats Dec 26, Dec 31 and Jan 1.
The BJP, Congress and JD-S are locked in a three-way fight in a majority of the 1,013 zila and 3,659 taluka panchayat seats.
The electronic voting machines (EVM’s) were used in the polls for the first time.
