Called Old Christmas by some; by others; Epiphany by still others.The Celebration of the coming of the Magi, the Three Wise Men. This is the time, traditionally, when the Christmas decorations come down. For me, I’m taking the time to think about our Christmas.I worked on having a greener and simpler Christmas this year. And a few things didn’t work out. The sacrifice was too great. So, indeed, I learned some lessons and wanted to share them with you. And I also wanted to remind myself.

This tradition, still very strong in Cork and Kerry is so called because of the Irish men before us who never lifted a finger to help around the house, and were never expected to. But each year, after the Christmas holiday, tired women finally got a break and men would take on all the household duties for the day.Most women would hold parties or go out to celebrate the day with their friends, sisters, mothers, and aunts. Bars and restaurants serve mostly women and girls on this night.
