Provided its great hardware specs HTC HD2 aka Leo has proved itself to be such a scalable gadget. From Windows Mobile 6.5 to Windows 95 it has been hacked/modded to run everything in between including Windows 98, Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1 Eclair, Android 2.2 Froyo, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and what not. Ubuntu is not behind the race even.
XDA folk dcordes has been teasing us with Ubuntu biuilds for a while now. But this time around he has made the latest Ubuntu release 10.10 a.k.a Maverick Meerkat Netbook edition to the HD2. You don’t need any external keyboard or mouse to use it unlike the initial release. The touch screen works just fine. Good news is that almost everything is working fine except you won’t have any voice during calls. Well, in other words it won’t work as a phone now but there must be a fix very soon.
Here’s our handy guide to run Ubuntu on your HD2. But make sure you download the latest build from the XDA link below instead of the one mentioned in the guide. You can also dual boot your HD2 with Windows Mobile if you want.
